Our heart, and therefore our life, is either at peace or at war. Our heart at war can battle strong, but ultimately like any warrior you will be wounded, and eventually you will be mortally wounded. Even the greatest warriors eventually dies in battle, its only a matter of time. Our heart at peace can only grow stronger, stronger in all the areas that create life, and life abundantly. Our best moments in life are not from the battles we fought and won (or lost), but our best moments come during times of extended peace.
A heart at peace is a heart filled with the love of God, as poured out in through the eternal life of Jesus! Jesus promised us that He would send a comforter, the Holy Spirit, who would bring everlasting truth and peace.
I often find myself being pulled into a battle, or even a full out war. The enemy of my soul is “offense”, which is prodded through poking my pride! My flesh is the door to the battle, and the offensive actions of others produces the energy and drive to go to war! It is during these battles that my wounds are produced, wound that some how never heal. The only defense I have is to keep at peace in my heart, and let God be my defender.
The word tells me that I am to feel blessed when I am persecuted, betrayed, or receive hurlings of insults and offense!
Be at peace o heart! Be at peace!
