Abundant Life Academy adds Clinical Director Scott W. Heaton to the already stacked professional staff!

Scott Heaton, formerly of Silverado Boys Academy, came highly recommended to Abundant Life Academy by educational consultants and other troubled teens practitioners.  Scott has 15 years of experience working with troubled teens, both boys and girls, and at Abundant Life Academy Scott will fulfill the Clinical Director position.  Scott  earned a Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and is a licensed marriage and family therapist in the state of Utah for the last 15 years.   Scott absolutely loves counseling troubled boys and troubled girls and his gifts are evident.  Scott combines his skills as a clinician and his love of working with youth and families to an absolute passion to train future leaders in “accountability”.  Scott possesses a unique ability to connect to the mindset of youth and enjoys coaching them to overcome the adversity and tough challenges from life.  As a husband and parent of three children, Scott also understands the role of a parent and inherent challenges in attempting to focus and channel the energies of young people who are trying to find their place in a complicated and fast past world.

Over the past fifteen years Scott has worked with youth and their families in various settings including a correctional facility, wilderness therapy programs, residential treatment facilities, and therapeutic boarding schools.  While each of these settings is different, each offers the opportunity to work with youth to help them regain their belief in something greater than themselves.  Scott believes that as we lose sight of the purpose of our lives, we also lose the belief in ourselves and our own abilities.  It is absolutely crucial for young people today to understand that they matter.  They are important, not only to their families, but also to society, and most importantly to God.  It is Scott’s hope for young people to rediscover how unique and important they are.

Scott has a strong desire to help people enhance the quality of their lives.  He also has a personal belief in the importance of the family unit as a spiritual, social, and emotional training ground for future generations.  Through educational and personal experiences, he has developed the insight and skills necessary to assist individuals in developing responsibility, accountability, and personal strengths.  His goal is to empower youth to become directed by purpose and integrity.
Scott is the co-author and creator of the Accountable Kids Book and parenting program.  Accountable Kids has received nationwide recognition and earned endorsements from New York Times bestselling authors such as Dr. Laura and Dr. Stephen Covey.  Accountable Kids provides a framework to help parents and children develop accountability and responsibility within the home and create strong and lasting family relationships.
